Responses to confinement: Truth to Power Café launches new digital platform
Across the world, events of all sorts continue to be cancelled and postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Organisers are forced to find new dates and figure out alternative platforms to hold their events. This is the case of the Truth to Power Café planned to take place in May 2020, as a result of a partnership between EHF member Conway Hall, London Artists Projects and Bloomsbury Festival.
As a response to COVID-19, this internationally acclaimed performance has launched a digital storytelling platform through which people of all ages, backgrounds and experiences can be heard in a digital space.
Truth to Power Café is a profound reflection on loss, hope and resistance, told through memoir, image, poetry, music, and live and spontaneous testimony from participants with stories to tell in response to the question:
Who has power over you and do you want to say to them?
People of all ages, beliefs and backgrounds are invited to respond to the question by sending 150 words in response to the question.
Created by Jeremy Goldstein and directed by Jen Heyes, the project is Inspired by the political and philosophical beliefs of Nobel Prize winning playwright Harold Pinter and his Hackney Gang.
