EHF General Assembly and Annual Conference 2018
The EHF’s 2018 General Assembly and Annual Conference took place in Nuremberg (Germany) from Friday 22 June to Sunday 24 June 2018. With the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, organising a General Assembly in Nuremberg – the City of Peace and Human Rights – felt right!
As stated on its official website, “on the background of its history during the National Socialist reign of terror, the City of Nuremberg feels particularly committed to human rights.” From the Nuremberg trials to the establishment of the city’s Human Right office, Human Rights Street and the establishment of the Nuremberg International Human Rights Award, Nuremberg’s recent history is paved with a commitment to Human Rights.
Nuremberg is also home to the Bavarian section of one of the EHF’s German Member Organisations, the Humanistischer Verband Deutschlands (HVD) which launched in 2017 a Humanist Festival with conferences, workshops, humor, art, etc. addressing humanist questions and beyond! In 2018, instead of an Annnual Conference per se, EHF members were invited to take part in the second edition of the Humanistentag with dozens of activities available also in English!
