Posted on the 27/01/20

27 Civil Society Organisations, including the EHF, sent a letter to Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency Věra Jourová calling on her to include all those impacted by SLAPP lawsuits in proposed new legislation.

Strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPPs) are used to target journalists, academia, trade unionist, activists, Civil Society Organisations and individual citizens, including human rights defenders. SLAPPs are used to silence those who play a watchdog role and hold positions of power accountable.
