We are very excited to announce the International congress of the European Humanist Professionals (EHP), a subsection of the EHF which brings together professional involved in the provision of a number of humanist services such as chaplaincy, counselling, ceremonies or education in Europe. By organising events, working visits, workshops and trainings, EHP wants to support, connect and facilitate the exchange of experience between humanist professionals recognized by officially established humanist organisations in Europe. This includes volunteers.

This year’s congress will be held in Bruges, Belgium from 4 to 6 October. The congress will focus on ‘Expressing humanist values in education, chaplaincy and ceremonies’. A wide variety of lectures, workshops, TED talks, discussion groups and cultural activities will offer inspiration and a chance to meet fellow humanist professionals to anyone who’s active in one of these main areas, or anyone who is interested.

Among the confirmed speakers are Andrew Copson (Chief Executive of Humanists UK and President of Humanists International), Prof. dr. Hans Alma (Author, Researcher and Professor at the University of Humanistics of Utrecht) and Dr. Christophe Busch (Director of the Center for Holocaust and Genocide, Mechelen)

There will also be plenty of time to discover the lovely city of Bruges and all of its cultural richness.

NOTE: We’re still looking for a number of contributions (for Ted talks, best practices sessions, information stands, small workshops, etc.) concerning the three themes of the conference (ceremonies, chaplaincy or education). We are interested in welcoming both beginner or advanced professionals.

If you are interested please contact EHP at [email protected].
